[CALIBK12] affording yearly software support circulation systems?

Hello fellow Calibers, 
I am posting this for my district supervisor.? Is there anyone out there who can answer? 


Due to the California budget crisis, my district cannot sustain a yearly software support contract for our library/textbook circulation system.? Our internal technical support department is very good, but they rely on the phone access that our contract provides to maintain both the SQL and the library server that the software requires. ?I contacted the company and inquired that since we have no money for a yearly support contract, might we continue limited support on a cost per software issue basis.? What are other districts doing to preserve some software support for their circulation system?
