[CALIBK12] Accredited school library media programs in CA

Based on the first sentence of the article about school librarians, I would say it is because CA does not require the master's degree, only the credential (well, 2 credentials: teacher and librarian.) I've been lead to believe that a good part of the teacher librarians coming from SJSU (my school) did not bother getting the master's even though it is only 2 or 3 more classes after completing the credential work. Or it might have to do with NCATE accrediation which I don't know the requirements of.

As to only having 2 ALA accredited programs, at least we have 2, the majority of the states and places listed only have 1. It lists only 32 states, including DC (which I know isn't a state) so that means there are19 states that don't have a single one, which is one of the reasons why San Jose State gets students from Oregon, Nevada and other states and countries.

Just my thinking,

I was surprised to see no California school library media programs listed in the AASL-approved list in the digital supplement to American Libraries.

Only two California universities have ALA-accredited programs for the MLS, San Jose and UCLA. <http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/4696d0a9#/4696d0a9/24>
What gives?

Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.
