Dear Yvette,

Thank you for your outstanding column today.? We had appointments early today and so I stuffed my paper into my bag and didn't get to it until lunch.? Then I tried calling, but your phone number doesn't take messages.

Isn't Jeanne a sweetheart?? I knew she'd make a perfect story.? And you put real heart into it.? I love the photos online.? She is there helping every kid.

This economic downturn is making for some dreadful decisions in the schools.? Thankfully, Jeanne has a couple of credentials to fall back on. She has been at it now for about 26 years and her first thought is always for the students and teachers.

An interesting sidelight.? Jeanne got into this business, if I read her credentials right, as a PE teacher.? You would be amazed at how many librarians are former PE teachers.? And they all come with the same attitude: coaching students to do their best.? The first school librarian I ever worked with was a former PE teacher, Marion Saunders.? Her example stayed with me my entire career.

Thank you, Reporter Cabrera.
