I have this book in my library:

Career Opportunities in Library and Information Science by Linda P. Carvell (2005) 0-8160-5245-X.

They might be a newer version. But it gives job description, salary, duties, education & training, experience, skill & personality traits, unions/assns, tips for entry.. for
