[CALIBK12] Library cuts and conference

CSLA needs to not only give these awards, but give them at the administrators' conferences.
Clapping for a hero in front of us makes us feel good.
Rewarding a hero in front of his peers makes a point.
Even so, all the "Golden Bells" in the world (the award for good administrators) get shoved in the closet when the cuts get made.
Until staffing ratios are in state law, we will see this boom and bust pattern over and over. I've watched it now for 36 years.

It was so worrisome to hear a radio announcer pointing out that school
librarians would be cut, so the news is out there. I do think that it
would be great to honor the superintendents and principals who retained
their teacher librarians and technicians through these cuts. We could give
them a standing ovation, couldn't we? And if someone could bring those
administrators to, with the school librarian, tell how it made a
difference. They certainly=2
0deserve a large banner that says, "You are a
winner!"
