I love Graham Salisbury's Under the Blood Red Sun-2 boys (1 American and 1 Japanese) who are best friends in Hawaii whose lives change completely after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Subject: [CALIBK12] WW II Books for Fifth Grade, without mature content
Dear Colleagues
I need suggestions for titles for reading groups for fifth grade on the
subject of WWII. Number the Stars has been chosen as one selection. The
other choice (from our guided reading room) was rejected due to content
deemed too mature for our (private, Christian) school.
I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have.
