Hello! The following below is from our history teacher (the Egypt Game 6th grade teacher), who is recently now going to handle 8th grade history as well. She's looking for good biographies for 8th graders to read during summer.

Thanks in advance,
Tatiana Guyer

I am interested in finding some biographies that would be appropriate for incoming 8th graders on the founding figures for Summer Reading. I have a few questions/thoughts:

1. Is there a grade-level appropriate collection of biographies that could be assigned?
2. Is there a series of grade-level appropriate biographies that we could list and let the students choose one of the books to read and report out on?

When thinking about the knowledge I hope the students walk in with, it would be on some of these political figures: Benjamin Franklin, San Adams, John Adams, Paul Revere, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Betsy Ross, Anne Hutchinson, Mercy Otis Warren, Abigail Adams.

So, do you have any expert advice as librarians?
