Subject: [CALIBK12] Poetry Slam Success





A huge thanks to Doug Achterman for his general guidelines on a Poetry Slam. I held one in my High School library over the past 3 days and it was a HUGE success! I was afraid only a few would sign up and about 10 would come to watch...


20 students entered day one and we had over 100 in the audience each of the first 2 days. Today, the finals, over 200 students and staff squished into the Library (on a sunny day at lunch no less) to watch our 4 finalists perform. Their poems were so powerful!


Anyway, thought we could all do with some good news! And, my district didn't cut any library positions.
