[CALIBK12] OCLA Spring 2009 Program on Thursday May 14th a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of The Nixon Library

Dear friends and colleagues,

Join us for Orange County Library Association's Spring 2009 Program, "The Richard Nixon Library, a Behind-the-Scenes Tour."

This insightful and free tour of the inner workings of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum Archives will be conducted by Greg Cumming, Superintendent Archivist of the Nixon Library at 5:00pm on Thursday, May 14th.

It is very important that we have an accurate count of all who plan to attend and that everyone attending be inside the Library prior to 5:00pm. The hour-long tour will commence sharply at 5:00pm, immediately after the library closes to the general public.

This is an exciting time to visit the Richard Nixon Library Archives. "On July 11, 2007, the Nixon Library became part of the Federal system of Presidential libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. The collections previously administered by the private Nixon Library Foundation are now owned by or in the custody of the Federally-controlled Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum".? It is expected that by November 2009 an archival building addition will be completed to accommodate presidential archives which in 2010 will be relocated from College Park Maryland to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum site in Yorba Linda.
