[CALIBK12] citation help

If I understand you correctly, you need to know how to cite an article that was taken from a website. Go to the primary source, the website, and see if it still exists. If it does, cite the website and not the book.

I am hoping the collective brain can help me with this.

I have Honors Biology students in the library today beginning a research project. One of them managed to find an article in a book that was excerpted from a university website with permission of the author. I often find articles online that were originally in print but have never seen this before. I’ve been looking in the MLA Handbook, but haven’t found anything yet.

Any ideas? I’ve told the student she is in running for the “stump the librarian” award. I hope she doesn’t stump all of you as well.
